A good start is using w3 total cache plugin. It will help with a lot of those issues. Do your research and take your time setting it up - and it will help a lot!

After installing w3 total cache plugin. You need to tweak it in the settings panel.

    Just installing it won't help.

Check your site at Google Page Speed Online and review critical path info.

FYI, 84 is not bad. I think it's a plugin or script. FYI a test on their site of their own site is 92.

After further review, you have many images that are not able to load at once and a css file (which is called in the head of course) that calls them. If these are small images, sprites, etc it works well (and not many files)

    Hi SwansonPhoto,

    Thanks man helping me out.
That is a very good site you gave me!
These results are better and indeed the pagespeed is 84/100
Maybe here the site is slow and maybe it is also because of the FF browser that has become much slower than before..my impression.

The high priority pagespeed insights gives two high priorities:

1 > Setting an expiry date or a maximum age in the HTTP headers for static resources instructs the browser to load previously downloaded resources from local disk rather than over the network.

2 > Combining images into as few files as possible using CSS sprites reduces the number of round-trips and delays in downloading other resources, reduces request overhead, and can reduce the total number of bytes downloaded by a web page.

Are these hard to change? or is it not so important?

    Thanks

    1. Ignore. (many clear browser cache on close as suggested by security folks, Google notes this to load their pages and ads faster :-)
    2. As I stated, you are loading too many images at once. Review how to make them both less server heavy and how to have less images per page load.

Note: the Home Page should be light and responsive, if some other pages take a few more seconds, that means you have already hooked visitors.

    Hi SwansonPhoto

You have an intersting site there and i am watching the windows 8 vid :)!
As far as i understand it is the sharexy plugin which is the problem
Combining images into as few files as possible using CSS sprites reduces the number of round-trips and delays in downloading other resources, reduces request overhead, and can reduce the total number of bytes downloaded by a web page.

the sharaxyplugin are the social media buttons on the left of the site.
But maybe i should change that one way or another?

I would concentrate on the larger images. And remove the cookie hack.
