• Hi kind support people.

I have a website I’ve spent several days building at http://www.carealty.biz/wordpress

Everything was beautiful until I accidentally lost the FORWARDING I was using from one domain name to another.

Once I restored the forwarding WordPress seems to have completely freaked out.

The site shows up as text only and none of the pictures or links work now and I can not log in at all.

Does anybody know how I mieght fix this?

    I’m distraught.

  • Looks like the site has somehow lost it’s theme’s style.css file, which basically contains all the layout, colours and potentially images for the structure of the site.

The login link however is there, right at the bottom of the page. Clicking it did bring up a login screen (without styling), you could try to login on this – it should work assuming the URL redirects are still working!

Without knowing more about what’s actually happened and the setup you’re using I can’t offer a much advice but there are a couple of things that I would suggest. Assuming that the domains / re-directs are all in place and configured correctly then…

    – Try to login, if this succeeds then either re-apply or reinstall your Theme. This will hopefully correct the missing ‘style.css’ file.

    – If you can’t login you could re-upload your theme via FTP or through your hosts admin panel.

If neither of the above are possible / don’t work then you could try re-installing wordpress. This wont loose any posts etc. if you leave the database intact!…

If you have access to your hosting account via FTP, or you can upload via the hosts cPanel, then…

    – First, backup your ‘wp-config.php’ file somewhere safe, as well as any themes, plugins etc. that you may be using (if you do not already have local copies that is). [Edit – Actually I’d tend to download everything to a local backup just in case]

    – Now you can delete the entire wordpress folder, or if it’s installed in the root folder just delete all of wordpress’ related files and folders. [Don’t worry this wont affect the information stored in your WP posts etc. as they’re stored in the database outside of this file structure!]

    – Now re-install / re-upload WordPress and copy your ‘wp-config.php’ file back over. Upload any themes / plugins to the respective folders under the ‘wp-content’ folder and see if this has you sorted! [You will probably need to login and re-apply / re-install your theme before the site will look as it should!]

I’m afraid that if this doesn’t solve it then there is a bigger issue than I can help with give n the information provided!

Hope you get this sorted out
