Hello,
I have a wordpress installed on my server Windows.. and many single files in html.
so, when a user try to acess the single files like this..
http://mydomain.com/file.html
returns erro 404.
sometimes i want to acess /wp-admin and the same error 404.
another example is the google verify file (webmaster tools)
the search engine and nobody can acess the file.. why the h..l?

I can not say for the /wp-admin 404 error but wordpress uses a structure at which when you enter your URL it think you are looking for a post of some type.. I have a fix for the htaccess file somewhere. I will try to find it and I will post it if I do

Right after your .htaccess file put this
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !\.(html)$0
it has to be called before any rewrite rull

thanks a lot. i am looking for days a solution. but my server use IIS, is it possible?
this error starts some days ago... i can't understand.

It should work for IIS. I would check with any plugins you may have installed recently as well.

i am so sad an tired with this error.. nobody knows the real motive.
studied everething about .htaccess, but no changes in theme, no install plugins and another files, nothing to provocate a possible disturb.. (no updates to)
may the solution is to delete the wordpress system..

Something changed if it worked and then suddenly stop. That is not questionable. The question is is it on your side or the hosting side. Hosting company make minor changes sometimes and it effects stupid things like this. I am not saying that it was you but you may want to look into your hosing providers support or check there update logs
