  • Did you set an events page at Settings > Pages > Event List/Archives or check permalink slugs at EM Settings > Pages > Permalink Slugs ?

also, try to resave permalinks at WP Settings > Permalink

    Hi Aglonwl

Yes I already did all of the above. Now the event search page doesn’t work anymore and I created a new page: http://www.auctionsbycellular.com/abc-events/ and changed the Permalink Slugs.

Still, the single event pages do not work.

    Example:
    http://www.auctionsbycellular.com/abc-events/tt/

    Can anybody help me?

    Hi

I did uninstall and delete the plugin again, deleting all the pages and events too. Then I resaved the Permalinks and installed the Plugin fresh. Now the link to the main Event Page doesn’t work anymore….

    http://www.auctionsbycellular.com/events

Is there nothing I can do? I would really love to have my client use the plugin they even want to buy the Pro version but if it doesn’t work…..

If there is anyone that knows a solution I would be so so grateful!

Maybe you missed something… did you re-check your settings page?

Also, what did you do to migrate to the live site?

Since it worked on the test site, it’s most likely something that you did in between, e.g. if you used a mysql dump to add the db information again to the new site and maybe you did a copy/replace of links to match the new domain.

BTW, this is something that can probably be easily corrected, and if we couldn’t help you troubleshoot via the forum (here or pro) for pro customers we’d even go into a site and look at your setup to get you up and running.

    Hi Marcus

Thank you so much for helping me!

The client is on amazon and we migrated the site with Backup Buddy.
I didn’t do anything new on the new site, didn’t install andy new plugins.
The one thing I DID do is update Events Manager from 5.2.6 to 5.2.8. It’s still 5.2.6 on the old test site.

I double checked all the settings, they are the same on both pages.

I also installed the permalink rewriter here: http://wp-events-plugin.com/blog/2011/05/13/no-more-404-in-4-0-4/ but it doesn’t show up in the Dashboard just on the Plugins site under a new tab called “Must-Use” but it’s not clickable.

    I also did add
    define(‘EM_DISABLE_PERMALINKS’,true);
    in wp-config.php but no result.

I just wrote to the programmer of the client so he can answer your question which I don’t understand 😉 “Since it worked on the test site, it’s most likely something that you did in between, e.g. if you used a mysql dump to add the db information again to the new site and maybe you did a copy/replace of links to match the new domain.”

I would love them to go pro right now but currently they are unsure if it’s worth the money or if they should use another plugin. I love Events Manager so I’ll do everything to resolve this but I don’t have any idea how to do it…

    Do you have another idea?

    Thank you so much!

    Hi Marcus

Here’s the answer of the programmer:

I did a SQL operation to change the ec2 links to http://www.auctionsbycellular.com ones, but that was a text replace, not something that should have affected the path portion of the URL.

    Does this help?

Thank you so much for your help!

This could be the reason why. Some plugins (not ours in this case) store certain information in a serialized array. If you did a text replace of a link stored in that array, then it’ll corrupt the array completely and the plugin using it won’t load that information.

I’m guessing here as I don’t know your plugin setup, but that could be a reason.

Have you tried disabling all your other plugins and/or using the twentyeleven theme to see if it works then? You’d need to re-save your permalinks when doing this. Also, get rid of the permalink rewriter and the line you added to wp-config.php as this probably isn’t the solution in your case.

    Hi Marcus

    Thank you so much!

In the twentyeleven theme preview the event page shows but the single event pages don’t.

I will disable all the other plugins and see what happens.

I will also get rid of the permalink rewriter and the line I added to wp-config.php.

I will write again as soon as I did it all.

    Hi Marcus

    I did the following

-Delete the line define(‘EM_DISABLE_PERMALINKS’,true); in wp-config.php
    -Delete the permalink rewriter
    -Deactivated all the plugins
    -Re-saved my permalinks

Now when I want to open http://www.auctionsbycellular.com/event/ it gives me the following error
(net::ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS) in the browsers Google Chrome, Safari and Firefox.

    http://www.auctionsbycellular.com/events/orality-in-james-joyce-conference/ still get’s a 404 Error

    Do you have another idea?

Thank you very much for your help!

Ok now http://www.auctionsbycellular.com/event works again but still no change about the single Events Page…

    Any suggestions?

I have no idea if this helps but I just found out that when I open the Location Subpage:
    http://www.auctionsbycellular.com/events/locations I get “no location”.

If I open the page: http://www.auctionsbycellular.com/locations I will get a list of locations…

    Still no Single Event Page.

Marcus, do you have any more advice?

    Hi Marcus

No idea why it suddenly said “resolved”. It’s actually not 🙂

    Still no Single Event Page.

Do you have any more advice?

    Hi Marcus

I just unistalled and deleted Events Manager and uploaded the “old” version 5.2.6 which I have active on the test page where everything works fine. Still no progress.

    Thank you for more suggestions.

I’d try re-installing your WP completely, it might be something deeper then, as normally this works fine and your problem started after migration.
