Simple PHP Gallery WP 1.5.1 prob.

Hi, I use WP 1.5.1 and Simple PHP Gallery 1.1, everything is fine, exept from the quality of the thumbnails. I use the GD version 2.0.28 and I placed the code $gd_version = “2.0.28”; into my sp_config.php like the instuctions says BUT the quality is still the same, bad, why? how can I change this, what should I type?

also, I’d like to have 1 random image or the latest pictures I add to the Simple PHP Gallery 1.1 to my main page (sidebar) of WP 1.5.1 is this possible? Just like http://relativelyabsolute.com/ What’s the code I should type?
