   I have been looking for a simple hit counter that does not require me to store the number of hits on some public or private site - I have sufficient storage on my own thank you. Is there one for WordPress like the one in FrontPage - that I can simply add to pages that I want to track traffic on? Thanks for your help

   You can try statcounter if you want a simple one.
