    Edit style.css (line 20)

    body {
    background:#BEC3C6 url(img/bg.jpg) repeat-x 0 0;
    color:#555555;
    font-family:Verdana,"BitStream vera Sans",Helvetica,Sans-serif;
    font-size:12px;
    }

    Change to

    body {
    background:#000;
    color:#555555;
    font-family:Verdana,"BitStream vera Sans",Helvetica,Sans-serif;
    font-size:12px;
    }

    style.css (line 551)

    #sidebar {
    background:#F7F7F7 url(img/sidebar_shadow.gif) repeat-x scroll center top;
    float:right;
    font-size:95%;
    line-height:145%;
    overflow:hidden;
    padding-top:8px;
    width:300px;
    }

    to

    #sidebar {
    background:#000;
    float:right;
    font-size:95%;
    line-height:145%;
    overflow:hidden;
    padding-top:8px;
    width:300px;
    }

    ah, duh.... sorry for that :-)

    Your sidebar already is white, or do you mean the background?

    background:#D5D6D7 url(images/kubrickbgcolor.jpg) repeat scroll 0 0;

    change to

    background: #fff;

    When I wrote 'background', I meant 'body'.

    search in your style.css for the phrase #body (which is at the top, so no much searching needed here ;-) ) and change like I explained above.

    Apologies for my deferred answer: I had to sleep a bit :-)

    It's more complex than I thought: your content pane (or actually the page) is made up by a big background image, which defines the color in your sidebar.

    The image is called wp-content/themes/default/images/kubrickbg-ltr.jpg and is defined in the #page div.

    If you remove this background however, it'll break your layout (or at least, how your site looks). You could edit the jpg however and replace the 'offending' color with white. The Gimp could do that for you, as will photoshop.
