Simple Catch
[resolved] [Simple Catch] How do I remove search bar from header, but keep social icons? (6 posts)

    I'm using the editor to change the appearance of the header among other things. I've gotten everything to cooperate, except for the search bar.

    I've opened header.php but am afraid that in extracting some of the social search code, I'll delete my social media buttons.

    Can you please tell me what code I need to remove to get the search bar off the site? I don't mind if that will also take the search bar off the side bar (I've already removed it there by dragging it out of my in-use widgets).

    Thanks!

    YES please I have the same question! All the suggestions I have found seem to not work with this theme.

    Thank you!

    Hi Sourgirl23,

    I ended up solving the issue, although I don't remember exactly what code existed here before, I think it was a get_searchbar function. Open header.php

    I noted below where the old code was deleted. It worked! Hope this helps. Here is how the mid-section of the code looks now on my site:

    // Funcition to show the header logo, site title and site description
    if ( function_exists( 'simplecatch_headerdetails' ) ) :
    simplecatch_headerdetails();
    endif;
    ?>
    I DELETED WHATEVER USED TO BE HERE!!!!
    <div class="social-search">
    <?php
    // simplecatch_headersocialnetworks displays social links given from theme option in header
    if ( function_exists( 'simplecatch_headersocialnetworks' ) ) :
    simplecatch_headersocialnetworks();
    endif;

    THANK YOU you're amazing! Now if you know how to remove the page title from actually showing on pages, you're a genius! :)

    You can try this

    <style>
    .post-title
    {
    display: none !important;
    }
    </style>

    To use this, Edit the page you don't want the title to show up and copy/paste this into the top of the page, using the HTML tab (not visual)

    Update page, and no more title in the page itself

    the search in the header can be deactivated in the settings of the catch-box template using ../wp-admin.
