[resolved] Simple Catch Child Theme Deletes Parent CSS (3 posts)

    So, when I created a child theme for Simple-Catch to change some of the CSS around it took all of the css out and left my page without any css. Normally when I have made child themes, for twentyten for example, it will add a-whole-nother theme to the dashboard>themes>manage themes but only the child theme is there.

    I actually deleted the theme all together from my root, reinstalled it through wordpress admin and then tried to add a child theme without any css and it did the same thing. I used this header for style.css ...

    /*
    Theme Name: Simple Catch Child
    Theme URI: http://www.example.com/
    Description: Child theme for the Simple Catch theme
    Author: Name
    Author URI: http://example.com/about/
    Template: simple-catch
    */
    @import url("../simple-catch/style.css");

    Thanks in advance. I'm guessing it's a problem with the parent theme itself though as I have never had problems with child themes.

    Hi RodsLearnin,

    Are you familiar with Child Theme? I just check it in my server for the child theme of Simple Catch. It is working fine.

    So, can you tell me what exactly is your problem and also let me know your site URI. So, that I can check it what is the issue.

    Remember, when you create the child theme you cannot delete the parent theme.

    Regards,
    Sakin

    Sakin, thanks for responding. I actually figured it out on my own after posting this though. I was making a stupid mistake... Forgot to make new directory and was putting child CSS into parent folder.
