Support » Plugins » sidebar widgets – where?

  • Hopefully someone familiar with Sidebar Widgets can answer this. Where are the default Sidebars stored? Not the widgets that are available for use in the various Sidebars, but the list of sidebars themselves – the Sidebar_1, Sidebar_2, Posts_/_Pages_1, etc…

As far as I can tell, they are not stored in the database (though I could have missed them!), and I can’t find where in the code the list of Sidebars is generated.

    Thanks for any help!

  • You set it up in functions.php

Thanks! Where is that file located? Is it a part of the widget plugin? Because I don’t seem to have that file…

Thanks again! (Off to keep looking!)

functions.php should be in wp-content/theme/THEMENAME (where THEMNAME is the name of theme you installed)

If the theme isn’t widgetized, you may not find the functions.php. And even if there is a functions.php, it does not mean that the theme is widetized. The Widgets are part of the core as of WP 2.2 (or 2.1), so you don’t need a plugin anymore.

    Widgetizing a theme isn’t difficult.
