Sidebar Trouble in Search Form (6 posts)

    I'm currently using the Gentle Calm template. It did not come with a search function, so I copied bits and pieces from the Kubrick and stucco theme. I finally got the search form to work. Now my sidebar for the page where all my entries pertaining to the word I was searching is all the way to the bottom.

    In order to see this in action, just go to my main page, http://asianglow.net and type in something in the search box. The page that it brings up has the sidebar all the way on the bottom. How do I fix it so the sidebar is in the correct position?

    I've been trying to fix this for awhile. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much.

    Hey,

    Looks like you don't have the closing </div> tags for the following elements:

    <div id="maincol"><!-- The main content column begins -->
    <div class="col">

    Try adding:

    </div><!-- col ends -->
    </div><!-- The main content column ends -->

    just before <div id="navcol">

    Rob,

    I edited my sidebar.php and it made the sidebar go to the bottom. I looked at my index.php and it already has the code right before the sidebar

    </div><!-- The main content column ends -->
    <?php get_sidebar(); ?>
    <?php get_footer(); ?>

    I don't understand what I did wrong :(

    Hey,

    You are correct. The standard index.php template seems to be OK (as it displays alright) but when it is displaying search results things seem a bit off. Do you have a search.php in your theme? Try adding the extra </divs> to that if you do.

    Rob,

    Thanks again for your help. I do have a search.php that I copied from kubrick. Wow, I just deleted the search.php and now it works! Go check if it's okay. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
