Need help from someone to be able to add widgets via the WP dashboard. Right now, I can only delete the widgets that are coded into the theme, but would like to be able to easily click "add" from Widgets dashboard and have that take the place of what's there already.

    Help would be greatly appreciated.

    Site is jamesonriley.com. Thanks.

Have you deleted the current widgets and tried adding fresh ones? That's what I had to do with one template. I had to remove all of the previous widgets, save the sidebar then add additional widgets after it was clear. Does that make any sense? :)

It might not be designed as a 'dynamic sidebar'.
That means that the theme may have its own files coded in to the sidebar as you said above, but WordPress itself may not understand it.
All you need to do is open up the sidebar file (usually 'sidebar.php') and then make it in to a dynamic sidebar. I'm not too familiar with this and you might need to have a look at the 'functions.php' file.
Check out these articles in the codex about registering sidebars and dynamic sidebars.
Nice site by the way. :-)
