    Hello,

I’m new to WordPress, and I’m actually building up a website with the theme : make.

I would like to use the left sidebar : I read carefully the instructions, activated the sidebar option in all of my layout (ex : tick Show left sidebar for layout : pages).
I put a bunch of widget in the sidbar in purpose to test it, so it isn’t empty.

The problem is that the sidebar don’t want to show on the pages I’m creating.
If I let my homepage empty, the sidebar does activat properly.

I checked almost every buttons on wordpress, but I did not found a solution. 🙁

Here is my website : http://sitecredis.olympe.in/wordpress/

Could you suggest me something ?
    Thank you for helping, Mapplesheep

  • Hi, it seems that while using the sitebuilder-templates the sidebars are deactivated, the widget-areas in the footer seems to work.

Only if you use the standard wordpress-template the sidebars will show up.

    Thanks for answering, chrisiwien !

By site builder, do you mean the page builder that “make” provide us in wordpress ? That’s what I’m using to create a page : http://sitecredis.olympe.in/wordpress/wp-admin/post-new.php?post_type=page

If I understand, I got to install an other theme (like twenty fourteen) and switch to this other theme any time I want to create a new page ?

    You’re welcome.

No, you don’t need to install another theme – since you can use only one theme at once.

When you create a new cms-page in the right column you find a box labels “Attributes”. There you can select between two templates, one should be labeled like “Standardtemplate” and the other “Template”. I’m not completely sure about the english names, because I work with a german version of wordpress.

If you select “Template” you can build the site with the standard features: just a title-box and a box with the WYSIWYG-Editor. Sidebars are visible with this simple template.

However if you select “Standardtemplate” the sitebuilder-boxes appears (where can add banners eg.), in this case, the sidebar remains hidden, regardless of your theme-settings.

If you want sidebars with the sitebuilder-template active you have to go into the code an change something, but that will be quite an effort…

Perhaps you have more options in the commercial version of MAKE…?!

Good, I found the label (builder template/ standard template). As you said, it work and I will use that. Thank you !

I don’t think I saw this notified in the commercial offer of MAKE, sounds more like a bug to me. I’m a little disapointed having to choose between the sidebar and the sitebuilder, but I’ll carry on. 🙂
