I’m looking for a theme I can use so I can change my current html/css site over.

All I see in themes is mostly for blogs. I have a 380 page site and would like the side navigation to be more than text. Currently I have slide out side navigation as well as top and bottom navigation.

I know html, css and some PHP but just am not seeing how I can bring in this site. I have the same header on all pages, but a sub-header with different photo for each category-specific page.

    Current site: http;//www.washingtoncountysheriffwi.org/

I already took the Lynda.com WordPress tutorials, so feel I can create a child theme, but still am not sure where to start for better looking side navigation.

    thanks!

  • Just curious, why are you changing to wordpress?

I am changing them over to WP because I am retiring in a couple years. This position is not really for a web developer but for an Adm. Secretary with “website” experience. It just so happens I was a web developer and liked the position.

I need to put it into something where most anyone can learn to add information, pages, photos, etc. It is unlikely we will have a blog, but this was the best CMS that was free and customizable. This will give the patrol staff a way to get information on the site without knowing code.

Our current CMS is very limited and does not take uploaded images well. It also puts in some bad code I always need to clean up.
