Could you be more specific about the actions you took and what exactly you are doing to preview / publish / view it? Are you referring to the slider or the promotion page?

Wow! thanks for the quick response! I am referring to the slider. I followed the steps in the tutorial. created a category, created a promotion. added the picture in the featured image section. When finished i clicked on “preview” on the top right hand corner (just like in a usual post). it opened and showed me the page with the ad that I placed in there, including the photo, everything good. I hit publish and visited the page live and there is nothing there. I am using the “producer” theme by antisocial media.
Sorry, not so fast this time! I think there is a misunderstanding between the slider and promotion page.
Anything you put in the content area of the promotion editing screen will NOT show up in the slider. In other words, inserting a picture in the content area will only display that picture on the promotion page, which is visible when you preview the individual promotion. If you set the featured image, which will appear within the ‘Featured Image’ box when set properly, it will show on the slider, but not on the promotion page.
A slider without any featured images will just display a grey box and possibly the title and excerpt, depending on your settings and whether you set the excerpt.
Here is a copy of the instructions for setting the featured image, as pulled from the contextual help section in the plugin:
Featured Image – In order for an image to appear in the Promotion Slider, you must set a featured image! First, click on the ‘Set Featured Image’ link in the Featured Image box. You can either upload an image from your computer or use an image from your media library. After uploading or selecting an image, click on the ‘Use as featured image’ link. Once you have set the featured image, you should see the image appear within the Featured Image box.
