Showing the page title on a blog page (7 posts)

    I'm trying to show the page title "news and events" on the blog page. I've read about how to edit the index.php file, but I still don't get it! Help! I'm not using a child theme, just the editor in the appearance menu. What is the easiest way to make it appear without having to be a full on expert? I can't seem to find instructions that tell me exactly where to paste the code in context...

    The theme you are using is from ThemeForest (I think)...so you should get your support from the author, that's part of what you pay for.

    It's difficult to give you support when we can't download the theme and take a look at it.

    Hey Tom,

    For support with a ThemeForest theme, please contact the author of that theme. You can do this from the contact form on the author's ThemeForest profile page. In the case of the Inspiration theme's author, that's here: http://themeforest.net/user/MixerTheme

    Good luck! :)

    Thanks guys,

    The theme developer does not support this theme any longer, judging by the complaints on the thread at theme forest. Any other ideas how to insert the page title on the blog page? All my research is turning up answers like this: http://www.orderofbusiness.net/blog/get-title-for-posts-page-in-wordpress/
    But none of the instructions say where the code is supposed to go? I deduced it was in the index.php file somewhere but thats as far as I can get.

    Sounds like you should consider changing themes.

    Typically you would put the code before the loop like so :

    <span class="title_css"><?php the_title(); ?></span>
    <?php if (have_posts()) : while (have_posts()) : the_post(); ?>
        /*post stuff here */
    <?php endwhile; else : endif; ?>

    Hope this helps

    To visually hide thing that's meaninful to SEO, like title, use this

    .myclass-to-hide {
    	position: absolute !important;
    	clip: rect(1px 1px 1px 1px); /* IE7 */
    	clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);
    }

    So in your case, to affect that page only, drop this in the bottommost part of stylesheet.

    /* hide title of Courses for Children post */

    #content .post-1354 .entry-title {
    	position: absolute !important;
    	clip: rect(1px 1px 1px 1px); /* IE7 */
    	clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);
    }
