Showing Private Pages/Posts Titles (5 posts)

This may be a stupid question, but I've looked everywhere. How can I show just the title of private posts and pages to people who are not authorized to see it? For example, if I wrote a private post, someone who just showed up to the site would see the title of the post, but also that it's private.

by private, do you mean you set the post status to private? not sure how you show those, as they're private ;-)

what you can do though is publish a post as normal, with published as the post status, but add a password. This way the post title will show up wherever you show recent posts, but you will have to put in a password to read it. so in effect its private.

    :-)

Well what I'm trying to so is have a "member's section" more or less. I was going to have each post in that section be set private to the author "member" and then have each user login as that user to see that content. I also hacked apart the admin stuff so that "member" get forwarded back to the homepage.

Then to make a page a members only page, I just post it while logged into the admin account but make the owner "member" and make it private.

    Does that make sense?

Maybe there's a better way to go about this...

Could I possibly set it up so that the posts are password protected, but you only have to enter it once to read all protected posts?

I believe that that is what happens. Once the person enters the password for one protected post, all the posts using that password show up. Not certain, but I think I've seen this occur.
