I'm completely new to WordPress and am looking to basically show just my posts, an the archive history sidebar on an external HTML page.

I tried to originally edit the layout off the WordPress page so it would link back to my website, but failed at that, so now I'm wondering if its possible to have an HTML page that literally just pulls that information back from WordPress and shows it on my HTML page instead?

I found some PHP that pulled back the heading of my WordPress page and the description, but I didn't know how to pull back the posts or archive using this, as I've never really used PHP

Thanks for any help and advice

There are several ways to do this.

You could either create a child theme page, with everything you need in it (header, sidebar, footer etc.) that will pull your content from the feed of your WP blog (check out this link).

    More about it:

Or create a html page which will display content from your WP feed. More here: http://www.labnol.org/internet/tools/embed-rss-feeds-add-html-websites-javascript/2515/

Or modify your current theme to display whatever needs displayed.

I'd go with the child theme.
