• Hi,

Does anybody know why I do not have a checkbox that says:

“Toolbar – Show Toolbar when viewing site”

It should be under “Users – Your Profile” under the Keyboard Shortcuts option, but mine simply isn’t there.

I have the latest version (3.6.1) of wordpress and I’m using the Mystile theme.

    Any thoughts?

Ok, so I added a new user and set the status to ‘Administrator’.

When I went to this newly set up users ‘Your Profile’, the “Toolbar – Show Toolbar when viewing site” checkbox was there! So, I checked it off, and logged in with the new users details.

However, when logging in with the newly created user, the checkbox no longer appears and the toolbar still isn’t showing on my webpage.

Very irritating, and any help would be greatly appreciated.

That option was removed in 3.3, I believe — here’s a tutorial that may help answer some questions:

    Hi George,

Thanks for the reply. From the tutorial:

“If you want to disable the admin bar of the frontend of your site, you can go into your user profile and uncheck ‘Show Toolbar when viewing site’…..”

This is my problem; that ‘Show Toolbar when viewing site’ option does not appear on my user profile. The wierdest thing is that I have another site with exactly the same wordpress version and theme, and the checkbox is there on that one.

    I don’t get it!

Do you have a plugin that may be adding it back in?

Can you confirm which version you’re currently on?

I’ve found the problem. There’s an option in ‘Mystile – Framework Settings – WordPress Toolbar’ that disables it.

Simple fix, but hard to find!

    RobJonze,
Can you please explain Mystile – Framework Settings?

I’m having the same trouble all of a sudden. When I log on to one WP site I manage the admin colors and show toolbar and such on my Profile page are there as usual. But on the other WP site I manage, they are completely gone.

    I’m using WP 3.8.1

I’m sorry, but I don’t understand your comment above. Where did the show toolbar when viewing site check box go? How do I get that and the admin colors back?

    Hey gnite,

On your admin page, click on the “Mystile” option from the left-hand menu. (Below “Comments” and above “Appearance”)

Then choose the “Framework Settings” option. Then, in the main body of the page, you should see a “WordPress Toolbar” option with a checkbox that says “Enable the WooFramework Toolbar enhancements”.

    Done. 🙂

    RobJonze,
Thanks for the response. Meant to log on and say I figured it out.

I failed to see up this thread that mystile is a THEME. Duh.

I don’t use that theme, so don’t have the menu options you all are telling me to go to.

But I did find that one of my plug-ins was causing that entire first part of my profile to disappear. It must just not have been compatible with the Aspen theme I use. I deactivated all of my plug-ins and the profile function came instantly back. Then I updated WordPress, and Aspen. Then I started with the most basic plug-ins I knew I needed, loaded them. Then I loaded the rest one at a time keeping a window open to the profile admin page. Presto. When I activated that one in question, the top part of the profile admin page disappeared. I deactivated that plug-in, and it came right back.

I can’t remember the plug-in name, but it was to remove the web address field from post comments.

    Thanks for the reply.
