Show recent post comments as exceprts on main page

    Looked all around to no avail for the answer to this, hope I can get some help!

    What I’d like to do is recreate the comment box you can find on Wine Library TV: http://tv.winelibrary.com/

    It shows the number of comments on the post, as well as 2 latest comments on it as excerpts.

    Clicking on the comments then brings you to the post page where all the comments are displayed.

    I found a lot of ways to get recent comments as excerpts to show on the main page, but not specific to the post being displayed. I’m also looking to hard code this into my theme, so I’m not looking for a plugin.
