    I am using WordPress since centuries >;o))
    Love the new version - no problems so far, many widgets running...

    BUT, I have only peripheral knowledge of PHP (just enough to edit what´s necessary).

    I´m stuck on this:
    I have Categories with child categories.
    Clicking on the parent category should list posts from that only, NOT from the child cats.
    I am trying and reading support now for days, don´t get it running.
    I use the standard formula in page.php
    <?php if (have_posts()) : while (have_posts()) : the_post(); ?>
    <div class="post" id="post-<?php the_ID(); ?>">
    <h2><?php the_title(); ?></h2>
    <div class="entrytext">
    <?php the_content('<p class="serif">Read the rest of this page »</p>'); ?>
    <?php link_pages('<p>Pages: ', '</p>', 'number'); ?>
    </div>
    <?php edit_post_link('Edit this entry.', '<p>', '</p>'); ?>
    </div>
    <?php endwhile; endif; ?>`

    Great thanks in advance - save me from complete desperation!

    For what it's worth, this plugin is not WordPress 2.3 compatible and the developer has no plans as of my posting to upgrade the plugin.

    Ok, here's a WordPress 2.3 compatible 'no children' category archive query plugin:
