Show only featured image and title outside of single posts (3 posts)

I'm very new to wordpress and haven't touched a bit of code since the myspace days in high school, so bear with me. I'd like to hide all of the content in my posts when viewed on the home page, category sections, everywhere really except their own page. I'd like, in other words, for all my feeds (I'm using the word loosely as I understand it, in case that has a more specific meaning within wordpress) to show only the featured image (in a banner format) and the title. Eventually I'd like to include subtitles with those and link the featured image to the posts, but that's for a later. I also want to keep the author byline and such. Basically I'm looking for a kind of excerpt which allows me to set a limit of "0". I've tried every excerpt plug-in I could find, but none were quite right. Frontpage Manager allowed me to hide all the text, but (naturally I guess) only on the front page; Auto Excerpt Everywhere wouldn't let me make excerpts any shorter than 1 word ("0" only seemed to tell it "do whatever you think is best"), and so on. Some of the plug-ins didn't seem to work at all. Any ideas? I'm at my wit's end trying to figure this out.

you possibly need to edit all your theme's template files such as index.php, archive.php etc http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Hierarchy - and remove the output of excerpt or content.

how are you intending to add the featured image (post thumbnail) to the output?

what theme are you working with?

I'm working with Suffusion. And I'm just uploading the featured images in the post editor.
