    That code should only affect the author of posts, the behavior of custom fields should not change. However, this is very old code using now deprecated user levels. Attempting to use user levels in recent versions can lead to unpredictable behavior. Try modifying the code to use capabilities instead of levels.

    Failing that, add query vars for meta_key or meta_query that specifies the results you desire from custom fields. These are added in a similar manner to that done for authors.

    Okay, thanks for the reply. I ended up not showing posts by author.
