Show navigation as categories, not (necessarily) pages (1 post)

    Good morning all,
    I wonder if this is possible to do simply;
    Situation:
    A theme with basic built-in horizontal navigation menu for pages in the header area. (Think something like Mandigo, for example)
    Desired Outcome:
    Where "pages" appear at present, can certain categories be displayed instead?
    Reason for asking the question:
    The blog is getting slightly varied in content, and readers are saying that they would like to quickly read stuff in a single category. I know of course that they can simply filter in categories, but I'd like to put up say 3 or 4 main categories on the 'nav menu to make it easier for visitors to get to their choice of content.
    Suggestions are welcomed....if not "earnestly solicited" :D
    Site in question can be seen at: http://www.dogshit.eu (nowhere near as terrible as the name sounds BTW and quite safe for viewers of all ages)
    Regards & TIA
