I have a great idea to take WordPress even further.
This idea is inspired and somewhat based on the WP Wall plugin by Vladimir Prelovac. This plugin uses "global comments" to create a sort of shoutbox, or wall, where logged in users can leave short messages and/or links etc.
What I want to do is integrate the comments from this plugin (which are manageable from the admin cp just like any other blog comments) into the main area of my blog where my own posts go. By placing the input box for this plugin at the top of the blog post section, it would effectively create a wall similar to that we have on Facebook...where it shows all of our own posts interspersed with messages that other people have left on our wall.
This will make the blog much more interactive, and give members more incentive to interact with the site. For the blog owner, it creates another avenue for people to contribute to the site and therefore grow. Especially if there is a box placed at the top of the blog post section. Inevitably, this is where things are going. Kinda sucks but what can you but stay relevant.
What you guys think?
