show global categories on a page

    Hi Kash,

    When you say ‘show global categories on a page’, what functionality are you trying to achieve exactly? What is it that you’d like WordPress to show?

    The second question was slightly confusing – are you able to re-phrase?

    Hi,
    Thanks for the reply.

    Regarding the first question:
    Different sites are created for different categories. For example an user open a site for FASHION. Another site is created for a category MOTORS and so on… So at the end would it be possible to show the all global category chosen by the users. Maybe using a shorcode to be included in a page?

    Regarding the second qustion:
    This is related to the first one. So after a user has chosen FASHION category, would be possible to show it to the next user during the site creation process in order to let the new user choosing the already created category?

    When you say different sites? Are you talking about different WordPress installations – i.e. are you using multisite?

    Are you trying to avoid duplicate categories from being created?

    Are you trying to utilise global categories – one site that has a category cannot be duplicated by another site?

    For example – someone has already created the ‘Baking’ category so you don’t want any other sites in Multisite to be able to create a ‘Baking’ category too as it’s already been created before.

    Yes exactly.

    And I want to make them visible as list on the main page.

    Our plugin won’t do that out of the box and we don’t intend to include it as it was designed for single site usage.

    It might be worth looking for a WordPress function in the Codex though.
