Show author of event (post) on single-event page

Tried and tried, but no luck.

I’m trying to get the post author (event author) to show on the the page that the single-event.php creates.

I’ve tried the correct coding I believe, but nothing.

<?php the_author(); ?>

This is the WordPress code to show the author on all other posts/pages. Is there a different code for this plugin to show the author?
