[resolved] show all categories on one page--though not the homepage? (4 posts)

    Hi,

I've reconstructed the template of the blog theme's homepage pretty seriously and have thumbnails and titles pulling in under categories, sort of like a table of contents.

Is there a way to use the archive page (or another method) to then have one page which is just sort of like the default page, with posts in all categories from latest to oldest on a single page, with "Older posts >" at the bottom--basically just like the homepage was before I started tweaking it?

    Thanks!

I guess what would be simplest here is if there's a way to use archive.php to show ALL categories--without having to add a category like "ALL" to each and every post, ideally. Is there?

    Thanks!

I suggest you go to Admin / Settings / Reading.
Set your reconstructed homepage up as a WordPress page and assign it as the static home page.

Then create another page - call it Blog or whatever - to be the new posts page. Set that as Posts page. That accomplishes just what you are looking for, all posts listed newest to oldest, including all categories.
