Should I mark single post site with no-index? (3 posts)

I have a site with a single post on it. I want the home page to rank e.g. bluewidgets.com but google is ranking the actual post page instead e.g. bluewidgets.com/post1.

Should I make the actual post no-index (and no-follow too)?

I am guessing this will avoid duplicate content and rank the actual homepage of the site too? I'm just a little scared to do it in case it tells google not to look at the home page too.

    Thanks

You could try that. You could also 301 redirect the post to the home page. You run the risk though that Google will drop your result entirely and not rank your home page.
