Why do shortstat, StatCounter, and Google Analytics give me such drastically different results?
I had been using shortstat for months and just installed StatCounter and Analytics this week. SC shows far more visitors than shortstat, and Analytics shows no correlation with either of the other two. Now I'm completely confused as to what my traffic really is.
I'd really appreciate any advice on this.

Wow, it doesn't take long for a post to fall off the first page, does it.
Any help on this?

Stats programs will give you different results because they all do things differently. Some record bot visits, while others like Google Analytics do not. In my experience, Analytics usually undercounts, possibly because it can be a bit slow to load.
