shortening the twenty ten nav bar (4 posts)

    FYI this is all in a twenty ten child theme.

    I am trying to shorten the navigation bar. Out of the box, it is ~940px, and I'd like it shorten to only ~400px. Excess nav links can wrap around to the next line. Maybe even have the sidebars float up closer to the header.

    I have figured out how to change the color of the bar (#access/background) and the text (#access a/color) and text size (#access .menu-header, div.menu/font-size). I can shorten the color-bar behind the navigation links (#access {width: 940;} to {width: 400}) but this only shortens the color-bar, not the navigation links.

    The only workaround I've found would be to shorten the color bar and only have 2 or 3 navigation links, but I'd like to have more navigation links than that. What am I missing?

    Thanks!!!

    You need to post a link to your site so someone can look at the actual code of your site.

    @wpyogi- I'm using a sandbox installed locally. It shouldn't make a difference since I'm making a child theme of the default theme.

    @alchymyth- thanks for you help! After much playing with the code, I've found the solution to be:
    #access .menu-header ul, div.menu ul { width: 400px; }
