• I want to use shortened versions of my blog posts that require a visitor to click a link to view the full post.

    Im using a custom theme that I don’t want to change but can’t find a way of doing it. Is there a piece of codeI could edit to allow this?

    my website is ww.club1985.com and any help would be greatly appreciated.

    The site is not safe for work however.

    Thanks

  • Three options (that I have given numerous times on these forums):
    1) When you’re writing a post, there’s a “more” button that will cut off the post where you put the more and make a “continue reading” link in the post;
    2) Open the index.php of your theme in Wordpad (or whatever) and change the_content to the_excerpt. This will result in posts cut off with […] and not a link;
    3) Go to the extend/plugins section and look for an excerpt plugin.

    How to I put a “continue reading” link and wherre can i find the more button?

    When you’re writing a post in the “visual editor” it’s a button left to the abc-spellchecker (a beam with a line through), when you use the “html editor” the button simply says “more”. The “continue reading” text will appear automatically if this is built in your theme (which it usually is).
