Shopping cart that can handle custom orders

The artist Peter creates custom signs for children, weddings, etc.

We need a shopping cart that can handle customized requests, like the verbiage on the sign, color combination, and other custom graphic requests. Is there a shopping cart plugin that can do this? We have also set up an account with Etsy.com . Can it handle custom requests?

Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.
