Sharing POST ONLY data between Installations Using Same Database (5 posts)

    Here are the particulars:

    1) I want to bring the post information (title of post, content, author, etc) from one WP installation into another.
    2) The installations are on the same domain.
    3) I don't want to use anything else from the other WP installation. Meaning, I want to manage themes, links and everything else from where I am bringing the data INTO.
    4) I will set it up so that both installations are in one database but with different table prefixes.

I THINK what I have to do is change some values in the funtions_post.php file so that, for all the post data, it is getting its data from the other table.

Do I have that right? Is that ALL I have to do? AND, what are all the references I'd have to change - assuming I got this right?

    Thanks!

Nope, you didn't say anything wrong ;)
I guess the issue is just above the general knowledge level of the volunteer helpers like myself. Maybe some PHP/code guru will come along and give you better advice, but generally we are not really into modifying core files. The average user doesn't need that and we (at least I, personally) don't advocate that since it would just increase the volume of crazy questions :)

My guess would be that the folks who might know what you're talking about, how to implement it, and if you're on the right track aren't here right now for whatever reason. It can sometimes take a couple of days for the people with information on some esoteric sorts of setups to check the unanswered posts.

I haven't a clue about how you would go about doing what you've posted there. I am rather thinking you might do it using WP MU (http://mu.wordpress.org/), but you'd have to check there for the info as to whether it would help you out (and they don't have an active forum like this one, nor does this forum support MU).

Other than that, it would appear you will just have to wait until someone with more knowledge than I have drops by.
