Whenever I try to activate the plugin, I get this:

Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or '}' in /homepages/13/d106281348/htdocs/yf/wp-content/plugins/sharedaddy/sharing.php on line 4

    The plugin is PHP5 only

Hmm. I'm not familiar with PHP5, but does this have to do with my server? I use 1and1.

Is there anything I can do?

    Thanks, John!

Yes, it's to do with your server - you probably have PHP4. For 1and1 it will be automatically enabled later this year, but there's an FAQ about enabling PHP5 yourself:

My server uses PHP 5.2.13 and I am also experiencing difficulties activating this plugin. I get the following error message:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: plugin_dir_path() in [path]/wp-content/plugins/sharedaddy/sharedaddy.php on line 11

I can find line 11 in the code but don't know enough about PHP to fix this

What version of WordPress are you using? It needs to be at least 3.0

Thanks John. I thought that might be an issue. I'll upgrade to the current version and see how things go.
