  • There was non-GPL code included in the plugin and we only allow GPL code. So the plugin had to be removed. The author has not been in touch since so there is no news.

Thank you for the information, Mark. I value open source software and the GPL license. Lets hope the plugin author changes his code.

Unfortunately the portion of the code that was not GPL was shadowbox itself. As I am not the maintainer of that code, I cannot change the license to GPL. See http://shadowbox-js.com/LICENSE

I have some thoughts about how to update the plugin to get it back into the repository but it will take a lot of effort and time.

In the mean time I will upload the current code to my site and announce it’s location from there shortly.

    Hi Matt

Dunno if you were aware but the sivel net site shadowbox pages are broken, not sure if intentionally: http://sivel.net/wordpress/shadowbox-js/

Hope this is useful. Happy holidays! 😉

This plugin seems to be broken for 3.3+, in any case. What’s a good replacement?

hey aradams, what version do you have as the latest version I have, 3.0.3.9 works fine with WordPress 3.3.1. I previously had the 3.0.3.8 which didn’t work.

The latest version’s been posted by Matt Martz at: http://sivel.net/2011/12/shadowbox-js-plugin-pulled-from-the-wordpress-org-repository/

    Hope that helps!

Wheelyweb, thanks! Got it working now with the latest version.

I agree with wheelyweb. The new version works with WP 3.3.1. Yeah!!! Shadowbox JS is back in action. Now, I just have to replace the old version with the new one on several dozen websites.
