I would like to setup a server which can run multiple WordPress-installations, as I would like to sell homepages bases on WordPress.
Each WordPress should behave as a single installation with own domain. However, I would like to be able to create each WordPress from some sort of administration panel, so I easily can create/update/delete domain1.com, domain2.com etc. etc...

Is this possible with WordPress MU and does a good tutorial exists for this setup?

  2. That is exactly how Multisite works. :)

    Install WordPress
    Activate Multisite
    Create a Site
    Install Domain Mapping
    Map Domains

Continue on. Keep in mind they will share a user base, but the site content is separate.

What is meant by share a user base?
Will they be able to see other sites, users etc.?

  4. I mean there's one set of users for all your sites.

They only have access if you give them access, however if they have no access, they can only see the site, just like normal visitors.

I wrote a Pay what you Will eBook that may help you understand it better: http://halfelf.org/ebooks/wordpress-multisite-101/

    Ok, I see.

The domain mapping plugin, is it this one:
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-mu-domain-mapping/
    or this one:
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/domain-mapping-system/
    or some other?

Thank you all for your help so far.

  6. The first one is the one I use.
