• Hi Everyone

I’m fairly new to WordPress (and the technical stuff generally!), however I have managed to follow the installation instructions. I have uploaded the WordPress files via FileZilla and connected successfully, however when I enter my domain name the usual WordPress setup page doesn’t appear, just a page of ads. I have set up a MySQL database and have the information ready to go, but nowhere to enter the information. Can anyone suggest why this might be the case?

If it helps, my domain is registered with and hosted by 123-reg.

    Thanks to anyone who helps!

    Lou

FTP into your site (or whatever file management application your host provides) & delete the index.html file in your domain’s root folder.

Sorry, do I do this in FileZilla? And where exactly do I find it?

do I do this in FileZilla?

    Yes

And where exactly do I find it?

In the root folder of your domain. If you are having problems locating this folder, ask your hosts for assistance.

I have been unable to contact anyone at 123-reg – their phone numbers don’t appear to work and I don’t receive a response to e-mails which is why I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. Thanks for all your help so far though!

I’m sorry but all we can do here is point you to the correct solution. We cannot do anything for you on your site.

Hi – completely appreciate that, no worries! I have actually managed to delete the index.html file from the root folder, however it doesn’t appear to have changed anything. I don’t suppose you’re able to recommend anything else?

    Many thanks,

I keep getting this error in FileZilla as well:

Error: Could not read from socket: ECONNRESET – Connection reset by peer
    Error: Disconnected from server

You appear to have installed WordPress in http://www.ditchthemap.co.uk/wordpress-2/

However, you currently have a database connection issue. Try checking all of your database details with your hosts.

    Ok, thank you
