Setup a new index page in wordpress directory. (2 posts)

I was wondering on how I might go about setting up my site when the user goes to my url

    http://www.theurl.com

that they get a page that I created that will basically have three main links to my blog, forum, and business.

The problem is wordpress is installed on the main directory, and I don't want to move it to something like /blog. I rather leave it were it is, but I would like to setup this "contents index" (is what I will call it, simple because it directs you to locations on site). I have seen other sites do this, but I'm not sure how they do it. Any help would be appreciated.

Create a home.php in your theme folder and edit it as you wish.
Warning: if you do this, your index page (what you see now as your "blog") will never be visible again! You will be able to access your blog only by categories or by monthly archives., single post etc, but not the index.
