Support » Plugin: W3 Total Cache » Settings file not sticking

  • Hi,

This just started randomly and has been an issue ever since. I keep getting an error at the top of my plugins page showing:

W3 Total Cache: Default settings are in use. The configuration file could not be read or doesn’t exist. Please save the settings to create the file.

I then need to resave my settings and a few minutes later they’re gone again. Any idea why?

Thanks so much for your help with this!

    Best,
    Jonathan

  • Hello,

I am getting the same error message after installing the W3 Total Cache (0.9.4) plugin:

W3 Total Cache: Default settings are in use. The configuration file could not be read or doesn’t exist. Please save the settings to create the file.

I have made the necessary changes to my permissions to no effect.

    Thank you in advance!

    Matthew,

Are you using Google PageSpeed? If so try disabling it as that might work for you. I disabled it and so far so good. Not enough time yet to know for sure though.

    Best,
    Jonathan

    Jonathan,

UPDATED:I am not using Google PageSpeed and I’ve checked all my activated plugins. After I get the previous error (above) and save the settings, I get this one:

Can’t change configuration: Can’t write to file main/beta/wp-content/w3tc-config/master-admin.php

    Cheers,
    M

Sorry then I think it’s likely a different issue than what I have.

Excuse me, I copied and pasted the wrong error message on previous post. Please review again.

    Thanks,
    M
