[resolved] Settings API and Multisite (6 posts)

    Hello,

Quick question: I want to set up a multisite installation using a specific theme. On the admin site, I want users from the network sites to be able to add some basic information to a settings page, which has a form with fields such as "name", "gender", "home city" etc. These fields will populate into an "about me" and the home page once the form is submitted.

I'm not looking to do much, just have the individual users have the ability to fill out a form that will populate into the about us page. Stuff like: name, location, tell us about you, age, gender, etc.

I know about the issue with Settings API and multisite, where users must be SuperAdmins, but I'm not sure how to get around it.

    Thanks so much.

    Ipstnu,

Thanks for the link but that's not what I'm looking for.

Basically I want multisite blogs (the child blogs' users) to have a setup page that allows users to add some basic information about themselves to an admin page that will populate into a page template, and I want to use the settings api.

I'm concerned because by all appearances in multisite only superadmins can use such a menu. I want all users to be able to do so. Otherwise, it seems, they will have to create their own custom page to add the content, which isn't easy for everyone. Also I want to maintain a consistent layout.

I've been searching everywhere but cannot find the answer.

    Thanks so much.

    JW ;)

  3. Yeah, that does what you want.

There's a profile page in the admin for all users already. Hook into that.

Fiddle with your templates to display it.

Works exactly the same in single and multisite.

    Andrea,

Thanks very much, I think I can use this (as long as my changes to the template will change all of the sub sites themes as well.

I've seen how much you've contributed to the MU/network forums and it's very much appreciated. Thanks so much!

    Jim

if they are all using the same theme, yes. :)
