   You set them - if you mean file permissions.
   If you want to edit a template, set to 666.
   Most other files will be fine at 755/766
   Check here for some details on CHMOD / file permissions etc:

   For images try 755 / 766 / 777 and see which your server is happy with.

   yeah i did a 777 to my index.php and it stopped working :O(

   Sushubh, your server may not like 777 (anyone can do anything they want to). 755 should work fine, I guess..
