• I have tried creating users through the backend of wordpress and through phpMyAdmin both are creating issues. When I submit the username and password for the newly created user on the login page it loads a blank page that says “Not Permitted”. Also I have noticed that WordPress is not emailing the username and password to the email account I setup for the user account either.

Not sure if this is because of a server configuration or I am doing something wrong when setting up a new user. However in the past I have never had any issues creating new users.

It is a unique enough problem that maybe someone had run across it before and could shed some light. I have looked around on the internet and found basically nothing on this topic, not sure how to troubleshoot this.

    thanks!

Possibly. Have you contacted your host?

I saw that information on the brute force attacks before (seems to be the only information on the Internet in reference to this type of error)

Here is why I don’t believe that is the issue. The site went live a few days ago and within hours I was trying to create a new user account for my client. Seems unlikely that an attack would be initiated within hours of a site going live? Would you agree?

You mention it could possibly be a server configuration issue what setting could possible be causing this on the server?

    Thanks

I don’t mean an attack on your site. The Brute Force attacks mostly targeted and involved login.php, creation of new user accounts, uploading new files, etc. So, to restrict such attacks, hosting companies restricted such activities. Though such measures were against hackers/intruders, unfortunately they may restrict you also. So, just by contacting your host describing your problem, the problem can be easily solved. If no such thing is there, you can always report back here.
