I have a few friends who have asked me to set up blogs for them and I have my own WordPress blog. Do I need to download WordPress again? They each have their own hosts, different from the one I use. So the blogs won't be on one server.

They will need to download the wordpress code from wordpress.org and install in on there own server. There server must support PHP & MySQL. Or they can also get a free wordpress setup by going to wordpress.com

So I can't download it to their server for them? They each own their own domain names and would like to use WordPress.
you would have to have remote access to their server. If you have remote access to their server and know how to setup and install the wordpress app and database then go that route. But yes you will need to redownload the wordpress files from wordpress.org if you dont still have the installer.
