Someone or something has hacked into my WordPress site and changed my .htaccess file. I have no idea how to create a new or how to get it to work.

    Can someone help me please?

Remove that file through FTP and upload the one you have in your computer. If you do not have it, create an empty file using your editor, name it .htaccess and upload it to the root directory of your WordPress installation.

Among other things, it is used for effecting the pretty permalinks. You have 2 options:

    1. Make the file writable (666)!
    2. If you feel paranoid about it, update the permalink and copy+paste the generated code snippet on to the .htaccess file.

There is a good tutorial about .htaccess in Codex. Read it.

I'm sorry but I'm really but do you have a really simple step by step guide on how to set up a htaccess

I tried to reset the permalinks but I couldn't find the code.

I tried one but it completely failed.

I've reseted the permalinks but now the links to the posts aren't working.

It comes up with no file found, can anyone advise me or have any suggestions?

    Hi everyone,

I'm still stuck with this. When reset the permalinks I can see any code which appears to add to the htaccess file. It doesn't appear to be generated any form of code.

Can someone please help me with this.
