I'm trying to decide how to set up the content area on a static home page with 3 areas (columns) in the main content section. I want it to be accessible from the edit page rather than in Widgets. Is using custom fields the right approach here?

Maybe I didn't give enough info here. The site I'm working on is here. I initially thought I would just use widgets for the 3 columns in the main content area, but I'd like to be able to edit them from the page editing screen rather than having to go to Appearance > Widgets. What's the best way to set this up?
