set multisite default upload path globally (4 posts)

I have figured out how to prevent wordpress multisite from creating yearmonth folders for uploads...

But only on a site-by-site basis (sites > [site] > edit > settings > uploads use yearmonth folder = 0).

Is there any way to make this setting global so I don't have to do it for each site created?

Hm... the silence is deafening. I guess my next step will be to see if I can hack up the cets_blog_defaults plugin to achieve this functionality. I will report back. Unless you have a better idea.

  3. I wouldn't do it. There's a finite number of files a folder can contain, and if you assume each image will have 3 versions (thumb, medium and original) at best (4 at worst). Some hosts restrict this further.

I'd be happy to use subdirectories, but of my choosing -- not automatically and not by yearmonth. Which apparently is also impossible. But that's for another topic.
