Hi Opajaap – firstly, your WPPA+ plugin is light-years ahead of the others! Thank heaven that NextGen broke or I never would have found you.
Installed WPPA+ yesterday and put up 622 photos in 13 albums in hours (instead of days!) – Thank You! The problem I encountered was moving images from one album to another and trying to regenerate the thumbnails. I tried Remake All – didn’t seem to work – tried it again and all looks good. I can get to all the other plugin pages but when I try to go to the Settings page this is all that happens …

Regenerating thumbnail images, starting at id=29. Please wait…
If the line of dots stops growing or your browser reports Ready but you did NOT get a ‘READY regenerating thumbnail images’ message, your server has given up. In that case: continue this action by clicking here

Your server reports that the elapsed time for this operation is limited to 30 seconds. There may also be other restrictions set by the server, like cpu time limit.

This server message was below the WPPA message …

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 67108864 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 3200 bytes)in /home/xxxx/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-photo-album-plus/wppa-common-functions.php on line 1416

Using WP 3.6 with theme Atahualpa 3.7.10 and latest WPPA+ (5.1.3) IE10 and latest Google Chrome. I won’t send a link to the site because it is working well. I just need to get back to the Settings page so I can learn more about this wonderful plugin.

Thanks in advance for any direction – Don

Most likely you were uploading relative large photos ( pixelsize ) that are on the edge of your servers memory when creating a thumbnail. Locate the photo ( if its most likely only one or a few ) ( id=29 or 30 ) and delete it. Then the regeneration will continue when you enter the settings page.

You have 64 mb memory, that should be enough, but keep in mind that the memory needed to downsize a 12 megapixel photo to create a thumbnail takes most likely approx 36 to 48 mb.

Try to downsize your images to be less than, say 7 megapixels before uploading.

If you want to force the regeneration process to stop do the following:

    Install plugin tweak option
Find Tweak option under the WP Tools menu.
    Look for option wppa_lastthumb
Edit it and set the value to -2

After this, you can use ftp to get your files back to the pc, downsize them a bit and ftp them back.

    They are in ../wp-content/uploads/wppa/

Then run the action in Table VII-A4: Regenerate thumbnails.

    PS.

Originally during uipload it worked, so you must be really on the edge of the memory capacity. Maybe temp de-activate a few other plugis will get you through with regenerating.

You can also downsize during upload ( Table I-A2 ) but you still need the amount of memory to create a temp memory image ( approx 4 bytes per pixel ). The max size indication on the upload screen is only an estimate!!

Thanks Opajaap – all is well – this case is closed!

Used Tweak at -2 as the largest file size was less than 200 KB (I always downsize to 800×600 in Photoshop before uploading). Turned off 3 plugins and regenerated all thumbnails in just a few minutes.

I did note that when I moved photo id=29 to another album it went into album 13 as photo id=637 (thought that was bit curious that it didn’t retain the same number id.). Looking forward to moving all of my Nextgen galleries to WPPA+ in the next few weeks. When that’s done I’ll be pressing on the Donate button for sure!

    All the best – Don

You most likely accidently copied photo 29. Moving will only change the photo’s album number as you expected.

Did you know that you can easily convert ngg galleries to wppa+ albums?

Go to the Photo Albums -> Import Photos admin screen.
Make sure the first selection box is set to Local.

The Import photos from – selection box will show — My depot — on the first line, Then a few lines like — Ngg Galleries –/… if you did not change the default location of ngg galleries, else like /wp-content/[your-gallery-strore-name]/…
Select one, press the Set source directory – button and import them.

I saw your site. You do not need to split them up in albums of 50 photos max, you can paginate inside wppa, also the slideshow.
Currently the recommended max album size is 1000 photos, the recommended slideshow pagesize: 50.
See Photo Albums -> Settings admin page Table I-B8, I-C7 and I-D4.
