[resolved] Server Error on Update or Fresh Install (11 posts)

Running WP 2.6 and can't get JetPack to work with it (for last couple of versions). Genesis theme, Frederik child theme, very few plug-ins - one of which is Soliloquy which is an image slider. Once Jetpack updates or installs clean, I get:

The website encountered an error while retrieving http://www.DOMAIN.com/wp-admin/plugins.php?activate=true&plugin_status=all&paged=1&s=. It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly.
    Error code: 500

Then the admin is generally hosed although sometimes I can hit the front-end which is cached with WP-Super-Cache.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

I've encountered a similar issue on a client website, I have temporary renamed the jetpack plugin dir to deactivate it.

@akis - please start your own thread and include a link to your site - it's very confusing to have multiple conversations in the same thread - http://wordpress.org/support/plugin/jetpack#postform

I've actually wanted to give an advice of what Goose can do, as it says it cannot access the website. There's no point of another thread as it's the same issue. I have misunderstood him a bit though, sorry about that.

@akis @wpyogi Thanks. I did delete the plug-in altogether via FTP. I have no problem with Jetpack's latest version on another blog on WP 3.6. It's just an issue on a much smaller blog with far fewer plug-ins. Can't figure out if it is the Genesis/Frederik theme part that is doing this.

Can't figure out if it is the Genesis/Frederik theme part that is doing this.

Could be - or a conflict with another plugin. You can often determine those kinds of problems by a process of elimination - start with all plugins deactivated and using twentythirteen theme - see if JP behaves. If so, switch to your theme - see if it works... If so, start activating other plugins one by one to see when it crashes.

Goose: as WPyogi says, have you tried deactivating the other plugins and using a default theme? Let me know what you turn up, as if it's a plugin conflict and I can reproduce it, we can try to fix the problem on our end or add it to our known issues list.

Richard: Thanks. I did go through the trial and error and found the issue. For some reason it was WP-Super Cache. I deactivated all plug-ins and turned them all on one by one. WP Super Cache was the last and when turned on, everything went haywire as described in my original posts. Odd since I do use WP Super Cache on other sites with Jetpack without any issue at all. I'm a little time-pressed right now but when I have time I may try to turn on WP Super-Cache with debug on and see what it generates - maybe there is something in the debug file that would shed some light (although it probably be well over my head). Thanks, Geoff

How I solved this issue is by deactivating the Extra Sidebar Widgets, hope this helps.
