    I have read through a lot here and I need to figure out how to update and everything manually since I messed up my upgrade thing and I cant seem to get it back.

    Anyway: I got this error (as always) when I tried to install:

    Fatal error: Call to undefined function: get_bloginfo() in /home/*****/public_html/blog/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 304

    Anyway, if my math skills are correct it's this line that they are talking about:

    // Get one row from the DB - see docs for more detail

    But my math isn't what it used to be. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

    And my wp-config file looks like this:

    <?php
    // ** MySQL settings ** //
    define('DB_NAME', 'blog'); // The name of the database
    define('DB_USER', 'the username I use to get into my FTP account'); // Your MySQL username
    define('DB_PASSWORD', 'the password I use to get into my FTP account'); // ...and password
    define('DB_HOST', 'localhost'); // 99% chance you won't need to change this value

    // Change the prefix if you want to have multiple blogs in a single database.
    $table_prefix = 'wp_'; // example: 'wp_' or 'b2' or 'mylogin_'

    // Change this to localize WordPress. A corresponding MO file for the
    // chosen language must be installed to wp-includes/languages.
    // For example, install de.mo to wp-includes/languages and set WPLANG to 'de'
    // to enable German language support.
    define ('WPLANG', '');

    /* Stop editing */

    define('ABSPATH', dirname(__FILE__).'/');
    require_once(ABSPATH.'wp-settings.php');
    ?>

    Anyone know the error? Besides the fact that I'm stupid :P

    The error generally means that WP is having trouble connecting to the database[1]. You need to check that you have the right values -

    1. Are you sure the database has been created, and that the user name and password really are the same as your FTP account?

    2. Are you sure the database host really is "localhost"? Some hosts have the database on a different box from the web server.

    Depending on your set up, you should be able to check these from your control panel, otherwise ask your host.

    [1] I've seen it when the database server was down, for instance

    lbessant: Hmmm...

    1. How do I know what password and such I have? I'm just new to the whole domain thing and the cpanel deal. And how do I know about the right vaules and stuff?

    2. How do I check that?

    I'm sorry if I'm really stupid, but it's the only way to learn right? :)

    I have added a database according to the tutorial (thank you for linking it) but the same error still comes up:

    Fatal error: Call to undefined function: get_bloginfo() in /home/*******/public_html/blog/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 304

    What else can there be? localhost is the right host thing so... hmmm

    Did you try the link I gave above for the error?

    Thank you so much, you have no idea how happy I am that it's finally working. Thank you so much - I hope I wasn't too much of a pain. Thank you :)
